Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information QuitSmokeApp collects, how it is used, and your rights in relation to that information. We have written this policy to be clear and straightforward - not to obscure how we handle your data.
Information We Collect
Data You Enter into the Tracker (Stored Locally)
When you use the QuitSmokeApp quit smoking tracker, the following data is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage - it never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your quit date and time
- Number of cigarettes smoked per day
- Cigarette price per pack
- Number of cigarettes per pack
- Daily check-in history and streak data
- Craving log entries (intensity, trigger, timestamp)
- Achievement badge status
This data is stored only in your browser. We have no access to it whatsoever. If you clear your browser's localStorage or use a different browser or device, this data will not be available.
Automatically Collected Data
Like all websites, our web server and third-party services may collect standard technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is used for security, analytics, and service improvement purposes and is not linked to any personally identifiable information you enter into the tracker.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies on QuitSmokeApp. A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser. Below is a full list of the cookies we use:
Essential Cookies
Language preference cookie
If you select a language on QuitSmokeApp, we store your preference in a cookie so that you see the site in your chosen language on your next visit. This cookie expires after 30 days and contains only your two-letter language code (e.g., "en", "fr"). This cookie is essential for the site to function correctly in your chosen language.
Cookie consent cookie
When you interact with our cookie consent banner, we store your consent decision in a cookie. This cookie expires after 12 months. It is essential for remembering your preference so we do not show the banner on every visit.
Advertising Cookies (Google AdSense)
QuitSmokeApp displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other websites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
By using our site, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above. If you do not consent, you can decline advertising cookies via our cookie consent banner.
Third-Party Services
QuitSmokeApp uses the following third-party services, each of which may collect data as described:
Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies and web beacons to report on ad impressions, interactions, and related services. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising policies.
Cloudflare
Our website is delivered through Cloudflare's content delivery network (CDN). Cloudflare may process your IP address and other technical data for the purposes of security, performance optimisation, and DDoS protection. For more information, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts to serve typography. When your browser loads a page on QuitSmokeApp, it may make a request to Google's servers to load font files. Google may collect your IP address in connection with these requests. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage and Security
All quit tracking data you enter - your quit date, smoking habits, check-ins, and craving logs - is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data never reaches our servers. We cannot access it, and it is not included in any data backups or databases we maintain.
Our website is served over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption), protecting data in transit between your browser and our servers. Our servers are hosted on a secured VPS with regular security updates.
Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information.

- Right of access: You have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure: You have the right to request that we delete any personal data we hold about you.
